Chaos at OpenAI: after shooting Sam Altman, what’s next for the home of ChatGPT?

This is how OpenAI fired its CEO, Sam Altman.

Previous OpenAI president and chair Greg Brockman’s post on X informs his variation of the occasions that pressed Sam Altman out of OpenAI (Altman reshared the post, and installed a message that today “has actually been sorta like reading your own eulogy while you’re still alive”).

According to Brockman, OpenAI Chief Researcher and board member Ilya Sutskever texted Altman on Thursday night asking to talk at midday on Friday (November 17th). At midday, on a Google Meet call with Sutskever, along with non-employee board members Adam D’Angelo, Tasha McCauley, and Helen Toner, “Ilya informed Sam he was being fired which the news was heading out soon.”
